About

This online resource was made to fill a gap in traditional research methods preparation for students and faculty. With more students, graduates, and faculty working in interdisciplinary spaces, needing a quick refresher or looking for accessible, just-in-time tools to get started, this open source resource addresses a vital need for an asynchronous, online introduction to social science research methods. These online modules are intended for students, faculty and professionals alike and could be used to prepare for independent research, provide a complement to a course, an introduction to a new method, or a timely refresher when preparing a fellowship or grant application, independent project, or a research assignment abroad. Although we began this work with the needs of students and faculty at Middlebury College, the Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey, and the Middlebury Schools Abroad in mind, we are pleased to share this resource with the broader public as well.

The Social Science Research Modules Project has been made possible through the contributions of our project team members, listed below, financial support from the Provost’s Office at Middlebury College, and the assistance of colleagues from the Office of Digital Liberal Inquiry and the Middlebury College Library.
