Are you stuck with finding the right types of questions to include in your questionnaire? Or do you want some inspiration to get you started? Well, you have come to the right place!
Often, a quick online search will result in sample questionnaires related to our topics to help get the creative juices flowing. If you are successful in finding questionnaires on your topics online, make sure to note at the bottom that you have adapted your questions from other sources. As an example, say you are preparing a survey about institutional ICC, maybe you could find a similar survey on intercultural competence and adapt existing questions for your own questionnaire.
If you haven’t already, the Survey module has information on question design. For example, you can explore how to develop high-quality questions. Another important thing to keep in mind is to create unbiased and ethical questions. Also key to consider is what types of demographic questions may fit best with your survey.
There are many types of questions that you could ask in your survey. Depending on the way your survey is structured, some questions may best be delivered through multiple choice (selecting one or multiple options) or fill in the blank. The types of questions include the following categories:
- Demographics (age, employment status/income, race, ethnicity, education, etc.)
- People’s knowledge and background on the subject
- Health-related questions
- Evaluating an experience or event
- How did your participants learn about the survey
